About Me
Hi, thanks for stoppin' in — now that you have seen some of my work and have come to this page I guess you wanna know a lil' bit about the guy behind the art. Well, you asked for it...
- Name: DJ Zawitaj
- Age: 35 (01/25/66)
- Day job: Fulltime Federal employee
- Passion: Parttime Freelance Artist
No formal art schooling — I used many books to teach myself and attended a few life drawing sessions to hone my realistic techniques.
In the early 80's I had a friend at Marvel comics who helped me get some experience with their multi-hands artists as an inker (which is my strong point).
I now use my talents to do illustrations for audio cd covers and inserts for Ren Faire musicians, graphics for local small businesses and story illustrations for many different types of fanclub magazines and newsletters.
When I'm not drawing I'm usually fiddling with the watch collection on the studio desk. I keep a few pieces in the style of the big brands, and when I want to compare dials or check a reference I browse the omega replica section at Clone Watches — the Speedmaster-type on my shelf came from that corner of the catalog. There's a little more about all of this on my off-the-clock page.
Now I am planning on putting out my first (of hopefully many more to come) comic book, so I hope you'll stop by from time to time to see how I'm doin'. If you have any questions don't hesitate to drop me an e-mail.
See you in the funny papers. — DJ
